Continuing his sonic and visual journey, enigmatic globe trotter LUI HILL has collaborated with label mates Fye & Fennek (Filter Music Group) to re-imagine the groove laden cut ‘5000 Miles’ which brushes on the edges of neo-soul and indie pop.
The accompanying music video by director Christoph Varga continues the brooding story of the original, offering a new chapter with a darker, more abstract visual. Of the mysterious project LUI HILL says “the idea of movement and distance are red threads running throughout. Even its title, ‘5000 Miles’, portrays this. Journeys of multiple kinds lie at its very heart.” Drawing influences from Bon Iver to Kendrick Lamar the remix sees LUI HILL’s velvety vocals perfectly complimented by Fye & Fennek’s slick electro styling and the addition of pulsating percussive elements.
Since releasing the powerful single in early November, ‘5000 Miles’ has featured in multiple Spotify playlists such as Young & Free, Viral Hits, USA Top 50, and New Music Friday (Germany, France, US, UK, AU). In December, the track was added to the Apple Music Today’s Chill playlist. With more installments of his linear visual story in the works and a live session of ‘5000 Miles’ recently released, LUI HILL’s soulful electro-pop vibes are coming thick and fast in 2018.
